You'd really be better off looking for a desktop for that price - it's better to be less portable but able to do what you need it to! Is it just for word processing? x

Look at netbooks, slightly lower spec than laptops, don't normally have a CD/DVD drive, but you can buy external ones

eish l would look for local computer fairs. Either local paper or do a search, there is a lot around the country but you wouldn't get much for that.
