I can not be bothered with complaints to be honest the whole place is a shambles if l started the complaints letter l would run out of paper typing it. I think they know what l feel good idea though but l know nothing would come of it. We are talking about the nhs

make a formal complaint. imagine if we were that incompitent- we'd get complaints made against us and written warnings etc.

I've also always been told to never say i don't know to a client. Even if you don't know you can find out!

I was given the discharge paperwork by the home to give to the Dr. I normally do not see it as the home sends it on, but thank goodness l read it today.

They left 2 drugs, frusomide and one other off but put on "discharge with same drugs as admit". So l rang my Dr who said could l ring the consultant as he did not know anything about it.
I rang his secretary she asked if l could speak to the ward as they still had the paperwork.. but if any hassle ring her back. (l like consultants secratarys as a rule they are fantastic as back up) She did try put me to the ward but the phones were screwed up.

So ring ward direct and speak to the ward sister who says we put his drugs on the discharge letter.
I snarled through gritted teeth they left 2 off and said no changes to admit meds.

She gets a Dr who looks on the computer and says. "Not sure why they are not on there, his notes are in storage, maybe his BP was a bit low, or maybe we did not know he had to have them.. if A & E didn't send the list.. perhaps they were forgotten when the letter was typed out
Me well l brought you a list direct to the ward..
Dr ... oh err..umm does he have swollen legs?
Me not yet but if he just came off them will take a couple of days. It is always happening.
Dr well um l can not read the notes so l don't know why he was not given them..umm, another vague maybe forgot...
Me well in that case can l get my Dr to issue a script for them
Dr Good idea at least he has them

FFS thank goodness l saw the letter because they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. I rang my Dr back and got them reissued.

Communication is something lacking at a hospital, well this one anyhow. Now to sort out the fact half of my dads medication has been left off the discharge the way they rushed him out l am betting they screwed that up.

How to upset a staff nurse... tonght. (condensed version)

"Hi just to let you know that when l said my dad was moving tomorrow he is not allowed to by rules of your hospital!

"Whahhhh (blood draining from face) HUH"

I told her what had happened with the social worker and the fact l had told the social worker to tell the ward which she had promised to do.. and she said

"No one has been in contact and the bed manager has been screaming all day..

Me big smile "ayup figured no one would call you and also knew your bed manager would be screaming.. but they are always screaming so nought new there"

Her " But it is snowing outside again"

Me "Ayup.. it is ..lots of falls"

Her" OMG" then smile on her face.."I will hand it all over to the bed manager to sort out the managers can argue about it and get off my back".

Me "Well l have sorted my part seems that l made the mistake of doing what was asked, l forgot the first law of bureaucracy is that never do the job always pass the buck.. so just update me with whoever wins and so l know whats happening"

"Yes no problem we will ring you once the managers have sorted it"

I await an update.
