Just wondering - Contracts? Who's got one? How long were you at your practice before you got it?
My 3 year anniversary is coming up and I'm still waiting on mine?!?
So I was wondering - legally if (just for example) I wanted to hand

Re: Contracts?!

this was similar to me disputed a few things and had a sit down 'meeting' with one of the partners and then nothing was decided or chaged so still unsigned!that was about a year a go!

Re: Contracts?!

Your written contract of employment must include:

your name

your employer's name

the date when your employment (and the period of continuous employment) began

pay and the intervals at which you will be paid

hours of work

holiday entitlement

entitlement to sick leave, including any entitlement to sick pay

pensions and pension schemes

your and your employer's entitlement to notice of termination

job title or a brief job description

where
it is not permanent, the period for which your employment is expected
to continue or, if it is for a fixed term, the date when it will end

either
the place of work or, if you're required or allowed to work in more
than one location, an indication of this and of your employer's address

details of the existence of any relevant
collective agreements which directly affect the terms and conditions of
your employment - including, if your employer isn't a party, the
persons by whom they were made

a note giving
certain details of disciplinary and grievance procedures, and stating
whether or not a pensions contracting-out certificate is in force for
your employment

However if you dont have a contract you still have certain legal rights as an employee from the day you are employed no matter what your employer says.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

If so, they have an obligation to discuss/negotiate with you but if not (ie it's your word against theirs) then if you don't sign it but it's been issued, legally, after a certain length of time it is deemed to have been agreed.

They have to put this in writing, something along the lines of 'as you have had your contract for x amount of time and havent put any isssues in writing then we assume you accept the terms'.
We had new contracts in the summer and had to do this with a couple of staff members.

Re: Contracts?!

in that case keep a paper copy of all emails in case you need them at a later date

Re: Contracts?!

it was a case of....

You should legally have had one (can't remember whether it's within a month or three months of starting the job as it changed some time ago). I guess if you handed your notice in and just went, they couldn't do much about it.
