Yet another work related question, I have one cat that has abundant struvite crystals and obviously needs to be changed onto a urinary diet. The problem is that both cats eat the same diet, she has tried to feed them seperately and seems

Re: Feeding Urinary diets to two cats....

I had this problem with 2 brothers in my weight clinic. One had struvite and one didn't. Hills advised W/D for both. Apparently it helps with the crystals without compromising the PH levels of the urine in the other cat.

Re: Feeding Urinary diets to two cats....

All Royal Canin feline lifestage diets have S/O index so once the struvite crystals are dissolved (Urinary High Dilution - we do recommend 5 - 12 weeks initially then 6 months of feeding followed by urinalysis) then you can transfer to a lifestage product (dependent on the cats age)

They were really helpful and once my cat had no crystals I moved onto the dry senior lifestage. Its been two years and touch wood no probs. I have eight cats one was on urinary one needed renal and the others were over seven so at least now I just have to feed the renal mog seperately x

Re: Feeding Urinary diets to two cats....

I would suggest feeding them both on the RCW Urinary until the crystals are no longer present, then switch both to the relevant Royal Canin lifestage diet. Urinary is not designed to be fed for life, but would be ok for both temporarily. Phone the Royal Canin helpline, they can be pretty useful.

Re: Feeding Urinary diets to two cats....

it's a nightmare having one on a speacil diet and others not. Putting them both on a speacil (sp) diet can and will be costly. What I do is feed them twice a day and keep an eye on them when they are eating, Luka is on urinary and always finishes his first, if the other two don't finish i put the bowls away and offer them it again ina few hours. It's a pain but it's cheaper than having all my cats on urinary diet. It takes a while to get used to but worth it in the end!

IF your client wont then most RCW is s/o so you could feed both on it! But with a little patience feeding cats seperately is easily done. Of course Luka still sometimes manages to "steal" his sisters food!

Re: Feeding Urinary diets to two cats....

I'm sure you can feed any cat the urinary diet, RCW Urinary S/O is quite palatable as well. Also some of the other RCW range have s/o formula within the diet to prevent crystals, so maybe moving onto that may help???
