back in the dark ages when i was working for an charity practice a client rings to say her cat is stuck up a tree a 100ft up and she is very concerned because the top of the tree overhangs the main road and she is afraid it will fall. She tells me it has been up the tree for 2 days. I spent hours on the phone with her and in the finish suggested the RSPCA or maybe the fire brigade.

One of my friends at the time was an RSPCA inspector and when he found out I was behind them getting the call I was thanked most profusely! She told them the same story cat had been stuck up the tree 2 days, was definitely stuck, was meowing because it was scared and she was afraid it would fall. He involved the fire brigade because he was worried about the cats well being. Fire brigades response tell her to go in her house and stop bothering us. Then the full story comes out.....

The cat often goes up the tree especially when their are baby birds in the nests. The cat had in fact been down the tree late the previous evening to demolish a bowl of food and had gone back up the tree to resume terrorism activities. The fire brigade had 'rescued' this cat on at least 4 occassions - each time taking a crew out of action and also causing a major road snarl up as the only way to do this safely was to close the road. The only reasons the owner wanted the cat rescuing was that she didnt like it climbing the tree in case it fell and also she didnt like it catching birds.

Re: idiot!

Its very interesting hearing some peoples idea of what constitutes an emergency!
I asked her what she wanted me to do. She expected us to come round and get the kitty outta the tree!

Told her to either contact the RSPCA or te fire dept. Her reply to that was "I don't want to do that bothering them on a sunday"

"Well we have no long reach ladders, so unless the kitty is injured, there is nothing we can do"

Re: idiot!

ha!
maybe I should send my two to show her that playing with a piece of string for a couple of hours is a really gentle pastime - if playing with a bit of string causes this response 2 hours with the boys and she would be a nervous wreck and then she really would need emergency assistance

[/quote]

haha i agree! half an hour with my Poppy would have her climbing the walls! Poppy decided on christmas day the best thing to play with was the tree! A bit of string is nothing!

Why do people like this have pets!?!
