How is everyone getting on?

I need to lose weight and I managed it before, I lost 2 stone ish. Diets:pah rubbish, does not work for me. I started cycling, walking, running, one year later 2 stone lighter I was competing in marathons, doing triathlons, training to swim the channel. The actual weight loss for me was irrelvant, it was about how I felt, and the shape of my body.

Key is heathly eating not diet food eating and exercise. I fell off track though a few years back and the weight crept back on, can't bear to give up my large portion sizes of heathly food so went for my first run last night :) Having previously been able to complete marathons, struggling to run half a mile was disturbing, but the best thing about running is the speed in which you get fitter. Battle through the first few weeks, and suddenly 10 mins hard slog turns into an enjoyable 20 mins run, then 30, then 1 hours. You get it!

Good luck everyone!

Re: The VN Fat Club 2010!

[quote user="*Steph *"]

What is pilates?

Pilates is an exercise method, designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance. Based upon an anatomical understanding of the body's muscular and skeletal systems, the Pilates teacher creates a comprehensive exercise programme for the client. Classes will focus on specific areas individually whilst using exercises that integrate the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.

It is this holistic approach that sets Pilates apart from many other forms of exercise. Osteopaths, physiotherapists and general practitioners recommend Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today. Pilates can be beneficial for just about everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilates

http://www.pilates.co.uk/

It works your 'core muscles' and REALLY helps tone and flatten stomachs

Re: The VN Fat Club 2010!

[quote user="Claire 'Duke' York RVN MBVNA"]
