I have always been taught to use them on oulling dogs as it will seriously help them (and you!!!) But as previosuly mentioned, get them used to having it on before walking them and lots of encouragement when they are using it correctly.

Re: whippets and leads?

hes got the proper wide whippet collar and always has

Re: whippets and leads?

Hi, what sort of collar do you have at the moment. My whippet pulls if he has a narrow collar on but doesn't with a wide proper whippet collar - not sure why! We have done quite a lot of training with him though as well. Worth a try though if you havent already.

Re: whippets and leads?

Halti just make sure you get the little connection bit that attaches it to the collar. If the halti does pull off you are then still connected. I tell people to delay the pets meal and put it on with no lead not to use just to get them used to the feel of it for a few days eating with it on before they start to use it properly. Do not just slam it on and walk you will be in deep dodo.

When you do start to use it lots of encouragement, titbits and short trips in the garden or house again so they get used to the feel, then when they are comfy go out properly. Time taken with the halti (or anything) is not wasted as someone told me when they brought it [halti] back complaining it was a heap of crud after ignoring my advice on how to use it.

Halti was the only thing l could walk Santa on anything else she was a nightmare, as to half slips l wont touch them or chokes or anything that tightens in any way. Santa bless her was also in the bracket of not the brightest.
