They need 12 -14hrs of light a day.. I use UV strobe light AND a spot light for heat.. I got a timer that turns them off automatically and on again after 12hrs. I also use a heat mat that is kept on all the time.. they need an area for 'basking' - this has to be in the same area as the spot light & heat mat... then at the opposit end of the tank, is used for 'cooling down' where a water bowl should be provided.

They feed every two days or so.. they can eat crickets, meal worms, some veg, - NO CIRTUS FRUITS though.. also, you should be sprinkling some calcium powder over every meal.

I should stess though, I dont have a beardie, I got a berber skink, but the care/housing is generally the same.. I love beardies though, and hope to own one, one day! .. have a browse through this site.. tell you care on beardies..
