Its a bit better today so maybe not gout after all

Re: I've got a sore toe - what have I done to it?

My mum's district nurse suggested it was a chilblain, and from looking online it matches the symptoms so I toddled (hopped!) off to the chemist and the pharmacist confirmed the theory and prescribed chilblain cream, warmth and no rapid changes of temperature.

Three toes on the left foot had by then started tingling (pins and needles) and with the cream twice a day they are ok now. The bad toe looks disgusting as it's leaked blood and got a now typical chilblain lump on it, and there's a tiny one on the toe next to it.
Sore, especially when I kicked mum's zimmer frame today, but keeping it warm helps it a lot.

Hope it's better next week so I can go sales shopping ....

Re: I've got a sore toe - what have I done to it?

have you had any short haired dogs for surgery recently - ie have you got a bit of the clipped hair worked it way into the skin on the underside of your toe? difficult to see unless it is a dark hair or sticking out - can be agony and I know the last time this happened to me the area around where the hair went in first felt itchy and then tingly feeling became a numbness. Was some slight redness but only after a few days and did sting when soaked in hot water - but felt better for soaking once I got used to it. Managed to squeeze the bit of hair out after nearly a week and relief was almost instant!

Re: I've got a sore toe - what have I done to it?

ouch!! sounds really annoying & painful :( have you checked for like a splinter of glass or something similar? long shot I know, but I left a splinter once an it hurt like a b*tch!! saying that, didn't have most of those symptoms! - maybe nerve damage? but I'd assume a nerve damage would affect your leg or other areas too that are connected?? Mmm strange one that! think you should insist on seeing your GP! x
