I lost about one and a half stone 6 yrs ago (a big thing for me cos i'm really short so look much less round now ) and have been more or less the same weight since. I don't think any fads work. I did it just by walking a bit more everyday (no gyms or anything like that) and finding out exactly what was in the food I was eating! I went online and worked out how many calories etc I actually needed ina day and used that as my guide. (you can do this on lots of websites for free) I really had no idea how many calories were in some takeaways or pub meals or fizzy drinks! You can still eat choccy and crisps and things (in moderation, obv) but be sensible and choose smaller packs/ lower calorie things. Aslo portion sizes are really important ( I think I used to eat enough pasta for three people in my spag bol!) when you do these things its surprising how easy it is to stick to, it takes time for the weight to come off but I really found it easy after a while because I really wanted to eat healthily. People always say to me now how lucky I am to have a 'fast metabolism' , that I never have to diet, and sometimes I think they don't know the half of it! I just eat sensibly most of the time. Good luck anyway, whatever you decide to do, i'm sure everyone here is behind you

Re: Very low calorie total meal replacements

I find being vegetarian keeps the weight of! The meal plan on Tesco diets is really good because it lets you factor in your fads and choices. Plus you don't have to cook meals if you don't want to. You can choose pre made meals from the shop as well. Or you can just make soup and sandwich easy peasy. It allows you to choose and every week is different, unless you choose to have it the same. It also helps you save money by offering options of what you already have in your cupboard.

Re: Very low calorie total meal replacements

Hi, thanks for the answers so far. Over what time frame are you all losing the weights you've quoted? I am really attracted to the fact the lipotrim only gives you about 450kcals/day to live on so you lose weight very rapidly.

I have rejected the idea of a diet club/diet plan with real planned meals as I am a faddy eater anyway and preparing/cooking meals every day would do my head in I go through spells of being really good and cooking lots of nutritious meals but then I get bored/fed up/cannot believe I am wasting so much time on food. So I go back to faddy eating. For example, at the moment all I fancy eating is tomato soup (cold), baked beans, granary bread with tomato puree & black pepper, fruit&fibre cereal and soya milk - so that is what I am eating! Clearly not balanced so I thought meal replacers would probably be more balenced than this! I used slimfast a few years ago and found it so easy as I didn't have to prepare hardly any food so I figured lipotrim (or similar) would be just one step up from this. The sad thing is they ban alcohol on the diet!!!!

Re: Very low calorie total meal replacements

If you're wanting to spend some money on a diet, join the Tesco club. They work out your meal plans for the week, you end up eating 6 times a day and it is based on all the foods you like. I think I paid £1.95 a week but it gets cheaper if you buy in bulk - 3, 6 or 12 months. Its definately worth the money! I lost nearly 2 stone on it and am going to start again in the New Year

Re: Very low calorie total meal replacements

Meal replacements are all well and good until you want real food again. Then your body freaks out and you get fat again, usually faster and fatter than you were before. :( I think I will stick to my low GI diet and learn to eat properly for my insulin and lose the weight naturally. I've been on it a month now and I've lost a stone. I feel better, my moods are better and I really enjoy the nice fresh non stodgy foods.
