Last Monday I called into the practice to collect an item I had ordered.
There was a lady in front of me who had also arrived

Re: worries about how the public 'see' you?

That's awful! I can't believe someone would act like that! Even when I am seriously busy and have 10 things to do all at once I never take it out on the client! especially if they are having trouble understanding something, somthing that might be so simple to us can be so complicated to someone else I think its always worth remembering that! then to pull faces at the end thats awful! such bad attitude! doesnt help people learn about vet nurses and actually how valuable our job is!

Re: worries about how the public 'see' you?

[quote user="mrs mac"]

I sometimes worry about what people think. I would be absolutely mortified if anyone thought id rushed or didnt care for the animal as they thought I should. I was once putting down my best friends dog while her boyfriend waiting in the waiting room. The nurse behind the desk was slagging me off. I just so happened I went round to my friends for a chinese and found out. I couldnt care what she said about me but I was gutted that the client heard that and its not professional.

I've used the marker tape method for years now for anything with a syringe, people seem to take to it really well.

I got caught once asking another nurse to serve the 'psycho' at reception LOL well she was... (she had been rarther abusive to me in the past so I don't feel too guilty)

This led to a shouting tantrum of expletives which could be clearly heard by the elderly man in the waiting room, who i had to go out to apologise and say the vet would see him. It embarrasses me as to how some people behave in practice when clients can easily overhear them. One place I locumed at just had locum staff except for 1 nursing assistant, and one afternoon one of the vets was called in to his next consult and loudly said 'I wish clients would just f*ck off' and the client did, not surprisingly.
