Senior vet finishing off fracture femur on a cat late on this evening, doors closed at 6pm - I was doing post op x-ray of cat, internal buzzer rings at 6.10pm - owner of prolapse dog - ACA (animal care asst) comes through to x-ray to say dogs owner here - senior vets says, no, sorry, they were told to be here before 6pm, tell them to come back in morning to pick dog up

quite a lot of my nurse appts this week were on the waiting list for things like, 'paw', 'sore paw', 'nails', 'lame' - all of those were as a result of ingrown dew claws.

I then examined the dogs paw, less than a second later, saw a horribly ingrown dew claw, so then I said to her, 'and this breeder guy knows everything about dogs then? Mmmm...... didnt know as much as he thought he did then.....if he did, then surely he would have noticed your dog has an ingrown dew claw and no amount of bathing will cure that, needs clipped, which I have just done for you. I suggest you take your advice from those who know in the future!'

aw thanks Claire

Today has been a much better day! Nurse consults most of the day, I clipped dew claws of a border collie and I have never seen anything as bad in my life so ingrown that it took quite a pull to remove the bits I had cut from the pad, poor dog was completely matted around her back end with lots of faeces stuck to the hair so I enjoyed shaving that all off!!

As well as a lovely cheesy abscess on the face of a cat - my favourite 2 jobs today!

Pleased you had a better day!!

OOH Abscess, I'm jealous!

I had a great nurse consult. Owner's had been coming 2 see both vets to learn to express bladder and couldn't manage at all but managed after seeing me. I was really proud of them.

Ended up debating for ages with my boss and receptionist about outfits for our Xmas do on Sunday.

Seeingg my boy tomorrow and decided last night that I'd throw him a suprise party next Saturday....talk about short notice. Fingers crossed it goes to plan hehe
