We used to have one vet who left everything in a mess. If she was debunging a cat she would put the faeces in the sink and then leave the crap for us to put in the bin, tried giving her a kidney dish/bowl to put it in so at least we could just pick that up but she would still miss.

Very good at getting books of the shelf but could never put them away

I think it is a module they learn at uni, use stuff and leave it out cos the nurse will tidy it away!!!

Haha, my old boss used to remind the vet students and new grads of this! So true Have worked with some nightmare students who think it is far too beneath them to tidy up after themselves, luckily in recent years they have been pretty good though and very helpful.

hehe, our vets say to the students- 'p!ss the nurses off and you will live to regret it!'

I've always thought that in their (vets) 3rd year of training they have a lesson that teaches them to forgot what bins are.

When you get early trainee vets,they pick up the broom ETC, as they go on with their training they get worse. By the time they qualify, the bin is the work tops.

I once remember where I used to work, we had 4th year trainees (had them all year round on rotation) and I was in theatre and one of the students left rubbish on the side, I picked the bin up and said this is a bin, He looked at me like I was the idiot! I then said this is where rubbish goes, use it. The two girl students were laughing away,he however was not amused, kept away from for the rest of his placement. Mind he used the bin in my presence thou!

I have 3 words. Tea/Coffee mugs. (ok, 3 words and a / !!) IT IS NOT MY JOB TO WASH YOUR MUGS!! Every single nurse meeting the vets used to moan at us for going home without doing the wshing up and leaving it for the night nurse. But why are they IN the sink?? Because I collected them out of your office/consult room/prep room and put them in the kitchen!

Just so I don't sound like a "vet-hater", there are some lovely vets out there that do wash their mugs. I've just never worked with them!

One vet I used to work with was really messy generally but also had the worst habit - whenever she washed her hands she would flood literally the whole worktop. We lost boxes of cotton tips, microscope slide etc etc as they would be completely saturated. I mean, whats that about?!!

we are lucky, our vets are not too bad. the most annoying thing one of them does is leave the caps off used needles! not just annoying but bloomin dangerous!

also why cant vets turn off xray viewers and cover the microscope back up when they have finished with it! its really not that hard to do!!

Some of our vets are terrible!!! I was on call with one vet and we were working until quite late and she buggered off home and left me to tidy up all her mess. She got called back in half an hour later and I was still tidying and she said sorry for not helping. To right!

Yes, I too work with messy vets!! Our female vet is very good at tidying up - maybe because she is a mum?! Our 2 male vets are TERRIBLE, dread to think what the place will be like tomorrow after one of them being on call!!

I work with 2 vets, one is spotless, you wouldnt even know he had been there and the other...well, just used to walk away from the mess, so I had to have words with him....nicely tho, I told him that the cleaning fairy was very tired as she had cleaned her fingers to the bone!! He laughed, but since then he cleans up...as best he can, but there is no means the mess he used to leave. I dunno, its instinctive, make your mess...clean it up...maybe some ppl just dont have that gene...or its in hibernation...all year!! Maybe I am just too Monica (clean freak, Friends)

I work with some fab vets who help clean up, which i really appreciate when it's busy. But also have worked with some very messy ones...you spend ages cleaning and tidying their consult room...an hour later you wonder why the bloody hell you bothered!!! The main culprit for this i pointed out to their messiness, and thy thought they weren't messy! He didn't leave stuff dirty, just clutter everywhere...things have a place so PUT THEM BACK THERE!!!

I make a point of pointing out if they are messy. I am NOT their slave and do not treat me like one l will rip their body hair out from their private places hair by hair if they try. I am past the age of being treated like a doormat their letters mean nothing to me their manners do.

God wish mine was like that! Previous boss was...now I got this one...I dread to think what Im gunna find tmr morning as hes doing the late night check ups!
