I'm not fussy, just love the idea of lots of plants in the house!
It can be ok for some species but a lot will go into shock and die or deteriorate. Many plants like a gentle dampness not a drying and soaking.

I only use that method on my plants if l feel they are dring out more than my watering can help. Usually in summer when they are growing and the windows get hot so dry out their containers. Or if l have been away and they have been water shortaged as l was unable to get hub to water them.

They are dunked in a deep bowl, weighed down and left for at least a couple of hours until the soil is a mud. then put back home and they do survive but l always apologise.
