Ours are about 3 years old and turned off when the clinic isn't open, turned onto mains charging (most of the time and battery occasionally) on the two or three sessions

Re: animal platform scales - battery life?

well I can't fault the service from Burtons.
They said we could send back just the display and charger to save us postage as the scales themselves didn't appear to have a problem.
I posted them on Tuesday and it was back by the weekend all fixed.

Wonderful service!

Re: animal platform scales - battery life?

They are Burtons own scales.
They are run down to empty charge several times a year in order to try and preserve the memory on the battery.
Battery pack is internal in the display unit and can't be got at unless the display section is dismantled.
I would have thought though that the unit would work as long as plugged into the wall and on mains supply and it would just be the battery side that wouldn't work on stand-alone - however it appears that the battery problem fails to complete the circuit and this won't allow us to use the display until we fix the problem.
Have spoken to supplier and we have to post back the display and pay for them to fix it at their premises - leaving us without scales for a while.....
thanks for help.

Re: animal platform scales - battery life?

Also, most things like this (scales, cordless clippers, mobile phones), need to have their batteries completely worn down on a regular basis. If you do this and then charge them fully, you'll find the battery lasts much longer.

Not sure what to do for yours at the moment!!! It may just need a new battery pack for now and starting again with a clean slate!

Re: animal platform scales - battery life?

What make are your scales, if they are soehnle or ohaus they manufactured a set of scales complete with a mains adapter/charger that had a red light on the mains adapter, the red light indicated if the adapter was charging the battery or not.

When charging the batteries follow these steps: unplug the charger from the display and then turn the mains power on at the wall, plug the cord back into the display this should charge your battery.

However if this does not work and the scales do not operate with the charger you will have a possible fault with the charger, battery or both.

If you can let me know what make of scale you have I will be able to help further.
