Its easy to test yourself on your strong points and push your weak points to the back of your mind, but you really need to spend time on the things you feel you don't understand.

Get other people in your practice to test you as you're doing day-to-day things rather than sitting down and asking one question after another. For example if you're helping to position a dog for an x-ray get the vet to ask you what part of the dog's leg the beam is centred on. It's much less scary this way and you'll find you probably know a lot more than you think you do.

I used to find getting family members to test me was really helpful as well - give them your textbook and get them to ask you questions about things. The fact that they don't know what you're talking about used to actually help me as I had to be very clear in what I was saying and very sure of myself. Sometimes if you ask people in practice and you're a bit hazy with your answers they will help you along a bit or say you're pretty much right, whereas with family members you have to actually know the right answer, does that make any sense at all? (Still half asleep this morning lol)

Re: HELP!!!

Brainstorming the main points of a topic helps me, rather than trying to remember EVERYTHING in the topic. Also flash cards are good (ie pic of instrument on one side, name of instrument on the other).

Re: HELP!!!

Did not actually mean to insult anyone people that know me know l also question them to their face if they say nurse and they are not.

As to studying. No tv/radio nothing a totally quiet room then l read out loud also helps things to go in easier and when in stay there.

Just short learning runs at a time, even 5 mins with info going in is better than 30mins when you have lost interest and trying to convince your brain it is learning. It isnt and you have lost all you have learnt at the start when you were taking info in.

Posters all over the walls get them from drugs companys gross family out tough they will have to get used to close ups of worms looking at them in the kitchen and clood cells and organs make a good lounge decoration. Never have enough posters and pictures.

Bribe yourself for every 5mins you can study and take things in. Cream cake something even a mug of coffee or a 10minuite break.

Also your reply is quite sad, you want advice & help on studying but then point out your on your own and would it that way......maybe you should befriend some of the QVNs on here and make use of their knowledge. Not pissing them off further and getting everyone's back up.

Others prefer complete silence though so work out which is best for you. You really need to be in the mind set for it though. Think of different ways to revise such as spider charts, MCQs, or get someone to make up self tests for you to make you do something, just reading pages and pages is unlikely to make anything sink it and you will lose concentration. At this stage though you will need to make sure you make set times to concentrate and get some sort of revision in, and stick at it!!

Re: HELP!!!

I used to go sit in the park and lie on the grass syllabus open and write notes down to cover each point of it!
