I had a big party for my 18th last year, obviously most people were drinking but there were no problems at all. If you try and make sure you only invite friends then it should be ok, although if you're really worried you could maybe speak to some of the nightclub bouncers about hiring someone?

And if you were really really worried nip intotown and ask one of the club door men about hiring someone for the night. They all have to be papered up now and there is companies that hire them. Friend of mine had one.

I agree with LoobyLou

Im 21 now, but thinking back to my 18th party which was held at my house by my parents, everyone was really well behaved and the drink wasn't too bad. It was the next day when we all went out clubbing that there was more drink flowing. But can't offer any advice on drugs as none of my friends do drugs as such, some spoke weed but they would never do it in front of my parents.

Sorry if this isnt what you want to hear but............. in my experience by the time they hit 18 they have already done the going out and getting smashed (kids usually start around 15!) so are generally better behaved. Its like now they can do it they dont want to!! Well at least thats what me and my friends were like
