Try Pet Doctors in Surrey (loads of clinics in Surrey)

Look on the Website they have a locum job page. (www.petdoctors.co.uk)

They have places for locums to stay.

I am leaving the Godalming branch as I am off to to a TP to train. But I know they are looking for staff. They allow pets aswell.

So outcome of meeting today - it is down to me to sort out cover, which thankfully down to AMAZING students i've managed to do. But when i asked why the HVN got paid more if it wasn't her job to sort rotas it didn't go down well! And also HVN and deputy have said no more than 3words to me all do - so much for putting me back at the main hosp to make me feel part of the team!!

So outcome is i'm writing my resignation letter and lookign for work!! Anyone need a locum that comes with a 15month old lab x pointer - will work anywhere but london - must have accom!! Cheers for all your support x x xx

I am glad you stuck up for yourself, it def is NOT your responsibility to arrange!

Really does sound like they're taking the mick getting you to do that many checks, i do inpatient checks (don't live at practice, we've got a flat to stay in for nights) 6 or 8 nights per 4 weeks and that is more than enough i think!

I know what practice u work for as a worked for them around 8yrs ago sounds like they have not changed!

I would find another job, u are qualified so u will 100% find another job,

definately your HVN's job! As a senior nurse, I dont expect my nurses to find cover for their own holiday/CPD time, that is my job and why I am paid more.

on another note - will be great to see you at congress Kay!! so many people I know are going, we will have to catch up. are you dressing up for moulin rouge night?! LOL I am not - certainly not brave enough!!

sounds slightly familiar......

if we are off and have been rota'd down for on call we have to change it, plus we have to swap our late shift? even though our holiday is down way before the rotas are done.

this is not our hvn fault its our useless manager

Thanks for the support - have told HVN in no uncertain words that i'm away at the end of the week and its up2 her to sort if she doesn't like it tough s**t!! Never used to be too much of a problem cause i was only doing 1-2 a week but now we are very busy i'm doing loads more. Have a meeting with practice partner and manager on Monday so certainly will be discussed then! Thanks again - might be on the look out for work next week!!

Your practice is taking the mick a tad aren't they?! It shouldn't be up to you to arrange cover, as mentioned what if you were off sick? To do in-patient checks each night is a bit much as well, even if you just have to go downstairs-what if you were staying out overnight? Doesn't sound right at all.

I used to do one week on one week off on night checks, but got paid pretty well for doing it!!!

So can understand why ppl do it! I also think it is down to who ever sorts out rotas/CPD to organise cover! me and the other girl would swap if we had plans etc...

But bit difficult when its just you

I would also not be doing checks every night. FFS someone is taking the ..... out of you. As to cpd would be saying l am off it is up to you to sort. See me in court if you don't like it.

Me too. I think that is ridiculous. What happens if you go off sick? Do you have to arrange OOH cover then too? Presumably your HVN is paid extra to deal with this sort of thing? Bat her gremlins back to her! Goodluck.

Thanks just need to be sure that i wasn't flying off the handle over nothing!! I do them all mon/tues/wed/thurs have the weekends of as branch not open but yeah its not great - i just have to think of the money!!

I also don't see how you should be expected to do all the night checks yourself! Are you not allowed to have your own life???
