The house next to me is rented out and the best neighbours I have had over 10 years have been a polish family for about 3 years.... many visitors/ people staying/ BBQ's in the summer etc but always very polite, very considerate in every way especially noise and BBQ fumes, and always polite.

I've got a fair few Polish friends and colleagues - direct eye contact with strangers is often seen as rude and threatening in Poland so bear in mind it's possibly a cultural issue rather than rudeness!

Very well timed. Our next door neighbours are polish and she always looks down when she sees either of us and won't say hello, I find it so rude!

that was well timed then!

Thankfully I have never had the bother of noisy neighbours, however, I do have one very nasty neighbour but we just try and stay out of his way all the time.

Woop!! My noisy neighbours have broken up and have given notice to move out! Three more weeks till they/she moves out!!!! Looking forward to it sooooo much!

My previous neighbours were noisy but only during the night......if you know what I mean!! However it stopped quite quickly after spending about 4 hours of the night listening to "Oh Riley....Riley.....Riley.......no stop I don't like it like that......Oh Riley" etc etc etc.

So in morning went out to greenhouse and bumped into bloke in garden having a ciggie. Not seem him before so said "you must be Riley! Did you find out how Aiesha liked it?" He turned bright red, ran inside and then I never heard a noise after that. Aiesha also kept her head down every time I saw her!!

Wish they were back cos at least she kept her hands to herself!!!

The letting agent has asked us to keep them informed of the noise. So we will see who they go. I've only ever spoken to him and he seems nice enough, BUT she is pregnant!!! So hopefully they do move out before the baby comes as we'll end up with sleepless nights aswell.

We've lived in our ground floor flat for 3 years and had rubbish neighbours nearly all that time.
The first 18 months we had an older couple, she was an alcoholic and he was a gambling addict. They were constantly arguing, playing music, stamping around and were always in and out, up and down the stairs. We had police round here on numerous occasions and an ambulance once as her 13 yr old daughter was threatening to harm herself. I couldnt leave my dog at home at all as he barked cos they stomped around so much. We made numerous complaints but it just made things worse, we just couldnt have a conversation with her as she ranted so much! They eventually split and moved out, I could have jumped for joy.

Then we had a single guy move in, was a bit older but no better behaved. He played his tv and radio full blast at all times of the day and night and wouldnt answer the door when we went up. The final straw was him going away for 3 days and leaving his tele on full blast. I made a very string worded complaint to the landlord and he moved out a few weeks later.

The upstairs is currently empty but they have been doing work in it and I am dreading the next person moving in. Its amazing how much you can hear when someones in there- toliet flushing, boiler starting up etc.
We are currently getting our flat ready to sell as just cant stand much more.

My advice is complain complain complain! Some associations have a rule of 3 warnings and your out so you dont have to put up with it.

my upstairs neighbor is noisy and we don#'t say a thing. Yet when we are noisy hes straight down the stairs to complain! When him and his wife have a fight they put music on loud and then argue which you can still sort of hear! Would complain like you if it was messing me up for studying! But really it gives me a good laugh because they act like the perfect married couple when there not!

They probably are approachable but the only time that we are all in at the same they are generally arguing and don't fancy popping down and talking to them , they seem a bit quieter today. We'll see how it goes.

The way they are arguing and what is being said doesn't seem like they'll be together for long.

aw sorry that your not able to concentrate on your portfolio thats pants, are they approachable? you could maybe just say that you are trying to study and they are not helping!

I was on the recieving end once when we first moved in here. it was really bad weather and our bin lid flapped 2 nights in a row, we sleep in the front room and would never hear it, but our next door neighbours did and posted an awful letter through our door in the morning. Had they just knocked on the door and explained I would of apologised and sorted it, instead we dont speak and havnt done for 2 years!
