Just looking for a bit of advise regarding stock control. I am trying to get ontop of our stock problems which is proving quite difficult!
We have dugs on the shelf that are the same thing just made by different companies, when some vets worked

Re: Stock Control

Re: Stock Control

pre meeting hand them cremation forms and tell them to choose their choice.
We had a locum in the summer wanting this that and everything - knew it was stuff we wouldn't use again so just told him no!! He told tales on me to my boss though, boss just thought it was funny though!!!

Re: Stock Control

Bah, stock control used to give me the biggest headache!! You'll never find anything all vets will be happy with

I think it would be an idea to ask what drugs the current vets want to keep in, hopefully they will be same for each vet and for the drugs that are going to be rarely used, keep in the minimal amount possible. Is it just you who does the stock order? If not, you may want to devise a stock list so that only those drugs are ordered in along with the amounts to be kept in. Its a lot of work to do but once its set it makes life a lot easier!

Good Luck!

Re: Stock Control

Yes, definitely the best thing to do is to try and gets the vets together and develop a protocol for certain conditions, i.e. ears, skin, teeth etc and stock the different medicines/drugs according to that.

That way, you will always have the drugs in stock they need.

If your supply company is flexible regarding the drugs you no longer use, why not ask the vets if they can be returned before they go out of date?

A list of drugs to be kept in stock would also be very helpful.

Good luck!
