Leaving aside upsetting folks and l am not hoiking through books yes in my case to bloody lazy.

After conversation yesterday l said l think yellow toped hold glu for 48hrs (this is cause a tube will be sitting all weekend at work) can anyone confirm how long the glu is held in this pot.

Second l may need to ask Graham on here but.....Are you able to run a glu. test on idex out of a yellow pot or does t need sending away and if needs sending away what do they do to run the glu test is it a different machine?

This all came about because the vet was worried and thinking of running a glu on idex until l said l think they last 48hrs and none of us knew if you could use the yellow pot to run a glu.

Ummm guys, whats going on?! I do think you should be having a go at me rather than Jennifer, i was the one who offered to email her, she didn't ask for it. I read the post as she had tried to do research but was still confused so needed clarification so that's why i offered to show her what i'd done. If i had thought she was looking for an easy way out then i wouldn't have offered, but from what i could see it looked like she'd done her own work as well. Maybe i'm naive, but hey i know i wouldn't copy so didn't think Jennifer was going to. In fact i have looked at the portfolio of a colleague to help me a bit, to give me ideas to what to include etc. Maybe i could be classed as a cheat in that case?

Jennifer, just looked at my appendix and i probably don't have as much info as you're looking for, i've just got pretty much what someone else has already posted (i got the info from the Aspinall and the Lane and Cooper textbooks). Here is the table i've got:

Maybe setting a mock blood sampling.....

"Jen we are going to be running these type of test on Fido. Get all the equipment and blood tubes ready please"

Maybe if you had worded the original question better I would have not got so riled about it. But it is a fact that many students come on here cos they can't be bothered looking up the answer! If you are having bother with this & can't get it in your head through books then maybe your assessor could run through it with you in practice. I'm very much a visual person & need to do things rather than writing stuff down.

You will find your answers in the Jones manual... I have the 2nd editioj, but I am sure it will be in subsequent

in the 2nd edition, its on page 343, table 13.1

See if you had said that in your opening post, then you would have had a much different reply..... we would not necessarily have told you the answers, but told you where to look for them

We are herer to help, have none of you been listening? we are all hard working here, and most have been there done that and got the T shirt, but you have to admit, the opening post was definitely someone who had not managed their time correctly and the subsequent post of "being a good nurse" confirmed it for me I am afraid.

dw about it but in future I am sure u will find the answer another way now after the wooping you got from others they should have a go at the person who gave you the answers.

if it was not relevant to "being a good nurse" then the question would not have been asked of you....... so if you want to be a good nurse, try looking a bit further instead of asking someone to do the work for you.

Ok!!!This is the first and last time I ask a question on here!!Im not asking you to do my work I just wanted some friendly advise!!I would of asked the same question at work so what is the problem. I spend my time being a good nurse rather than worring about the blood tubes- its just an area im not confident with and i think it was out of order how you replied. all i wanted was some help i thought this site would be a nice one. and yeah maybe i should know about it and find it myself. i have looked for it myself on the internet and the nurses books i have and couldnt find anything so thats why i asked- and im sorry i did.

I remember all to well how hard the portfolio was but I didn't copy other people's work. I learnt more from looking it up myself and am glad I did! Passed with credit for second year exam & wouldn't have done so if I hadn't studied hard.

I am a student and I put a lot of effort into researching stuff, I would feel a total fraud if I just copied it! am I missing something? I would say know what blood tubes are for is fairly basic x

Come on, of course we know what it was like. I also remember how long I spent trawling through books to find out information for cases!

To the OP - nobody would mind offering information but for something like this, the information is freely available in nursing textbooks as well as the education section on here.
