little better today but i did skip one tablet this morning. going to take 500mg tonight and 250mg in the morning and see if that helps, i think the two 500mg in the PM and AM of 8hrs between was too much for me. :(

Re: PCSO and Metformin Users

[quote user="StephB"]As for forgetting your last tablet why don't you split the dose up so it's only two AM/PM.
Its the best way to start and the side effects do wear off but you need to keep taking them. You are experiencing all the side effects I have had and I now been on Metformin for 5 years on and off. Currently I am on 1g bid. They can make you alot more fertile though so be carefull if you are not trying for a family if you are then the best of luck.

Take care

Im on 500mg TID and get the usual side affects!!, costs a bloody fortune also and dont get many pre prescription!!

oh dear. I spoke to the GP and the pharmacist about my financial situation and they give me a good two months worth for one Rx with a couple refills. The Pharmacist knows me well from looking after his dog so he looks after me with the Rx fee from time to time. :)

I'm now on 500mg bid and I'm really starting to get the side effects. The last couple of days my gut has tried to drop out of me! I have also lost my appetite. I've been doing the Tesco Low GI diet along with it and it's helped a lot with the gut problems and I've lost 3lbs in the last week. My main issue is eating, i just don't eat very much to start with and with these drugs on top of my ADHD Ritalin, my appetite is really struggling. I'm forcing myself to eat a lot of the time. I'm really not looking forward to upping my dose at the weekend.

As for forgetting your last tablet why don't you split the dose up so it's only two AM/PM. So if your daily dose is 1500mg take 750 bid.
Blimey, your dosage sounds confusing - I'd have to right al that down lol.. I'm on metformin for PCOS also.. been on them for about 2mths or so... I started on 500mg oid for 7d, then 1bid for 2wks (500mg) then 1 tid thereafter... I have to admit though, I forget to take the third sometimes! ops! - seeing my gp in 2wks to see if I can get a higher dose and therefore take less tablets a day!

My side affects were loss of appitie and really bad stomach cramps - the doctor said that the side affects will go eventually, and they have eased loads!

how are you getting on with them? xxx
