Thank you for your replies, I will go & check out the acas site.

My boss is happy to sub me/us as necessary when he changes the wages but the way he is talking makes it seem like he is going to give us cash from the surgery as necessary & then we pay him back when paid. However I can see this being a never ending cycle.

What we wanted to try & see was whether there was some kind ?bridging loan system where he paid an extra few weeks wages in last weekly pay packet & again in first months wages. This money would then be collected back over the following few weeks.

Unfortunately our employer is a good vet but not the best business man in the world!

If you are worried you wont make it without money coming in till the end of the month, see if you can get your boss to pay you something like 2 weeks in advance, and then start evening it out till you are on a monthly wage.

Hi, I went from a weekly-paid job to a monthly-paid job (so similar to your situation, but voluntarily!) and I didn't really notice the difference. I organised all my bills to be monthly and it went from a separate bills account, which I paid enough in out of my weekly salary. I just changed this to monthly. It seems like a big change, but I found it wasn't.

ure employer has to give you a months notice and in writing of any changes to your wages or hours of work, go look at acas website it all on there.

maybe you need to talk to your boss about your concerns or even contact CAB they may be able to help more

A partner of one of the nurses had his wages changed from 4 weekly to monthly (i.e. sometimes 5 week months) a little while ago & his employer subbed his wages for a few months. We didn't know if this was compulsory ?! or just a good employer

As a single parent I rely on my wages & a period of 4/5 weeks without any wages coming in particularly after xmas is going to be a real struggle

as far as I know they have to give a months notice about change of contract (which this technically is) dont think there is anything out there to help adjust to the change tho sorry.
