I think it's a shame that they don't engrave the backs with names and number anymore... it just makes it more personnal.

My badge is engraved but it has been thru the washing machine a few times and the red enamel is quite badly damaged... but I am reluctant to get a new one because it won't be engraved.

Ohhh.. The Green Book!

Get this for frustrating! I was 18 when I got a job in practice, 19 when I started 1st year..... I was the first portfolio intake! I passed first year with flying colours! I then moved around a lot for personal reasons, but never secured a L3 training place.... until now! (Read on)

If I had just gone into vet nursing straight from school I would have been green book! (A year earlier - aghhh!)

Even more infuriating - after much moving around, and having 4 years off to raise my son, I find myself in the last year of portfolio for L3!

How evil is that!!!

I did my practical exam at Beaumont Animal Hospital at Campden Town - that was a very long time ago!

NOT at all optional, passed 1st year and then left it for a few years (due to personal circumstances) before I tried to take the 2nd year again but my application was not received on time (so the RCVS say ) so by the time I had moved practice etc... I got told that I had to swap over to the portfolio as the green book was out of date and not an option any more!!

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger... I think...

I was green book too. Didn't get mine back either. I was so surprised I passed my 2nd year practicals 'cause I got a taxi to the college without realising there were two campuses. The taxi driver took me to the wrong one. Luckily a nice secretary bundles a panicking me into her car and broke all the speed limits to get me to the other campus. I arrived out of breath and very red inthe face 2mins late and sailed through....... I mean what else could have gone wrong lol.

Thanks to that secretary.

I was green book too. I was offered to start the portfolio in my second year but after looking at it for all of two seconds, I gracefully declined.

I found the old syllabus the other day too. Had to have a chuckle, all the things in there that we had to do. NEVER used them once qualified but had to do them at college all the same!
