No pics yet, I promise to post some pics tomorrow - having an issue with my phone at the moment, in that I have to delete pics to enable me to take some more so I have lots to upload!

Anyway, 'Gordon' is doing so well and he really adores me! It really makes my heart swell with pride that such a graceful, beautiful specimen of an animal has so much love for a person!

I have started letting him into the house - he is normally indoors with the other dogs anyway, but that is in the garage. I bought him a new red 'walking out' coat & a red muzzle to match and I also bought him a gorgeous red leather proper greyhound collar!

He is now allowed into the house - i.e. kitchen, front room etc in the evenings but he has to wear his muzzle as he does chase the cats with intent lolol. He has yet to notice 'Tabitha' my rabbit lol! She has him sussed already and stays under the table and chairs when he gets in lolol!! She is one step ahead of the game!

Anyway, he is now sleeping quite content at my feet - and snoring! Completely oblivious of the fact a rabbit is living in the next room and the cat is on the sofa!!!!!

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

hahaha!! I know!

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

LOL - I thought you'd end up keeping him!

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

Thanks!

Yes, the boys love being around the animals and my sister has horses and they often go horseriding which they love!

I agree with you when you say growing up with a dog helped your love of animals - I was the exact same, always had a family dog when I was growing up. Its only in the past 10 years or so that my mum has also came to love cats - she has one of her own. I think mine and my dads love for animals grew on her!

I can be confident that my children will grow up to love and respect animals all their life. When you read some of the stories of children being cruel to animals these days, makes me wonder what sort of society we are living in.

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

I said it cos it's true

Yeah £200 is a lot of money, but with your menagerie that's not too bad! Hehe they really have become accustomed to a very good lifestyle by the sounds of it! I look forward to seeing the pics!

It must be so lovely for your boys to grow up with all the animals around them, i grew up with a dog who was pts at 14 years old when i was at the start of junior school. I think having him for those first few years of my life has spurred on my love for animals.

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

Thank you Vicky, thats a really nice thing to say!

I guess I am luckier than others as I have so much space to give them. Would you believe, it only costs me approx £200 per month to feed all my animals - thats goats, cats, dogs etc.

I know £200 is a lot of money, but I love all my dogs dearly and so long as I have the money to keep looking after them like I should (and keep them in the style they have become accustomed to lololol) then I will keep on looking after them!

When my outside run has been finished, I will also post photos.

The way I look at it now as well Vicky is that I am now a single mother and I have no-one to answer to only my children - and so long as they are happy, then I am happy!

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

Aww you're so lovely taking them all on, they're lucky to have you. You must get through a fair amount of food!

Re: Help me rehome a beautiful greyhound

[quote user="Vicky C"]

Vicky - I am just a sucker for a sob story really!!

However, no photos yet, plan that tomorrow.

He is at home with me now, my children love him and want to call him 'Gordon'. He is very like my other greyhound, 'Ranger' and the boys believe he is Rangers brother lol!

Anyway, he has fitted into the family like a glove and gets on really well with the other dogs. My ex-husband has started to build me a fantastic 'fool-proof' run for them in the back garden so I can keep all my dogs outside when I go to work every day, which also means mum doesnt have to come up and let the dogs out.

I had a delivery yesterday from retired greyhound trust of new 'walking out' coats so I will be happy they will be snug and warm in their new kennel. I ordered another one for Gordon tonight! So, I wonder if he will stay with me????!!!!

My friend runs an animal shelter here and she has 4 greyhounds she is transferring over to Greyhound Rescue in the south of England and she is going to find out if they can take Gordon too.

But because he is such a lovely dog, I dont think i want to part with him!
