Initial registration is always more expensive as you get your badge! Then it drops down for subsequent years.

Is that for the first year registration? My annual reg has just come through and its £70 maybe it starts at £93 then drops?

RCVS website says it is £93 for registration, Im definately doing it even though i do have to pay it for myself!

Its £70 a year to be registered, you have no choice if you qualified after 2003 and you have to do 15 hours of CPD per year.

5 hours can be self certified though so stuff like reading text books/veterinary journals etc

I'm sure the CPD time is only 15hours per year average, as long as you do the 45hours over three years.

It cost me £93 i think to send my application off to get my badge etc once i had completed all my exams and this was in May but then having to pay £70ish again to be on reg. But usually your place of work pay for you to be on the register?

Remember, though, if you are due to qualify and you don't register as an RVN, you will not be allowed (officially) to do Sch 3 procedures, anesthetics etc. Most positions ask for Listed (which you can't be if you qualified after 2003, I presume??) or Registered, so, in my opinion, pretty useless doing the training if you aren't going to register. It costs about £70 annually to be on the register, which some employers pay for. Costs a bit more the first year, I can't remember. I lve being on the list. You can look yourself up on the RCVS website!!

rvn = compulsory cpd responsible if brown stuff hits fan and can go to a disciplinary and all that entails

qvn = cpd not compulsory vet carries the can

both are qualified

Before registration came about there was listing, which meant you were on the RCVS list of vn's. Registered you are on the register, where you are accountable for actions and have cpd hours you have to complete (can't remember how many).

bit confused, listed vn?? whats the difference, sorry to be thick, just bin discussing this at work and they all as thick as me, but two are RVNS and one is vn!!!????

From 2003 it was compulsory us before it is optional. There was talk of compulsory for all from 2010 suddenly that has become .. "oh no it was never compulsory"

Newly qualified vn's have to be registered, there is no option as far as i'm aware. I'm not sure if they're going to make registration compulsory for listed vn's?
