I answered the phone politely to a chap who was selling credit card rolls, he wanted all sorts of information like who is the practice manager, head

Re: Cold Callers...

Been caught like that myself!! Its very annoying and should be banned!

Re: Cold Callers...

***

Re: Cold Callers...

That is so rude , i personally think it must be soul destroying doing that for a living. No excuse though.

We once had a company ring up asking if we needed till rolls etc, made out it was the company we usually use making a courtesy call. One of our receptionists made an order, we then found out that it was just a cold caller and the order was twice the usual cost

Re: Cold Callers...

We get this all the time too. I'm surprised he rang back so many times tho, how many nice ways can you say no?

All of us are briefed on not giving out too much information to these companies. My personal favourite is to tell them that we've just received an order for till rolls/consent forms/ fax paper etc and thanks but no thanks.

My father in law has a different approach: If he's having problems getting rid of a cold caller then he askes what their policy is on terminating the call if they get sworn at. If they reply it is then he just says "fine, **** off then" and hangs up. Not for use at work, but worth remembering for those "just sat down to dinner and the phone rings" calls.

Re: Cold Callers...

This company call us regularly every month. Dispite being informed politely that we do not require credit card rolls and requesting them not to ring - they still do!

A new receptionist got caught out a couple of years ago and agreed to order some. they arrived with a very large bill. We contacted them to arrange there return only to discover they have a handling charge. Evently we paid, but will not get caught out again!

Re: Cold Callers...

The caller with held their number

Re: Cold Callers...

I would have gotten the details of his company and reported him.
