we had a renal cat in today - off food, would not eat anything, even with tlc etc - spoke to o - had been on boiled white fish since she was a kitten, hand fed no less.....

Hey Lou

Glad to hear that you know what the prob is, and can sort it

Doubly glad to hear you are hunting a TP - good luck!!

OT, but with regards to cats, I have always been taught (and have practiced with my kitties) do not allow them to get fussy as healthy youngsters - they eat what they are given in my house (sounds harsher than it is - mine eat dry, with a pouch as a 'treat' every now and then)

I have when they were kitties ( and same with my pooches), go more than 12 hours without eating, before realising that what they were given, was all there was!

Obviously I would NEVER recommend this in an animal that has anything at all wrong with them!

I was taught this by referral nurses as a way to get your kitty/dog to be in a mind frame to eat their prescription diet later in life

[/quote]

I'm another firm believer of you get what your given especially with cats as they are cheeky but usually when they don't eat something it's for a reason. Sometimes offering them too much can put them off totally!

Re: fussy eater!

Hey Lou

Anyways she was constipated and dehyrated which shocked me because I swear she had been to the loo and drank loads yesterday! But hey what do I know? She got a mini enema thing and some electrolyte water and some liquid p (cnt mind the name!). Anyways she still been sick and refusing food!! God have tried everything, fish, meat and her favourite pouches! Why not try Royal Canin Sensitivity Control in the Alutray? Its really palatable -its a more moussey texture which cats seem to find appealing. Or even the Vet Care Nutrition Young Female in pouches? this one is great, when i joined the company my fussy cat tried it and now she clears her bowl. She has the dry and pouches.

They all have 100% palatability guarentee so if she doesnt eat it just let your rep know.
