Nick - I know you can upgrade to City&Guilds cert but I can't actually find the course on the C&G website? Any ideas why they are providing a cert in radiography?

It's the only diagnostic imaging qualification out there for VNs, which I personally think is very disappointing

you get an article each month and multi choice questions, the qualification is spread over a year!

Nightmare! All that work and no students! Did you have to pay to do the course?! Still, I guess you can take it with you.

Good to know that there are places that will pay more for knowledge and experience - defo an added incentive.

Well my main reason for doing them was to gain further knowledge in a certain area (nutrition for me) and then with a view to getting paid extra... I'm still waiting...

I've also worked towards the A1 qualification too and spent the bast part of 3 years getting students through exams and portfilio, the second I get the qualification my boss decides not to be a training practice any more!!!

So I've worked my ass off and not been financially rewarded for any of it!

and yeah furthur education is good at keeping up with knowledge, new techniques etc....

I am toying with waht to do next. I can't seem to stop studying. I have done BVNA pharmacy management certificate, city and guilds exotics and certificate of pheromonatheray from Lincoln uni, amongst mny other short courses. Am thinking is it the nutrition course or shall I just go for a top up to get a degree or diploma. Hmmm

Also diploma that is run by the RVC which is similar layout to the DipAVN in that you choose your elective between surgical/medical topics. This is mainly an online course, though there is a compulsory residential week at the RVC at the start of the course.

As for behaviour, COAPE do a recognised diploma which is residential for about 3 weekends per year (over 2 years). A couple of people on here have done this or studying it at the moment so can help more with this.

There are lots of other certificates that can be carried out once qualified depending on interests such as exotic nursing, nutrition, dentistry etc.

Hi lovecat, there is no such thing now as a surgical or medical diploma......... you do a diploma in clinical vet nursing then go onto the advanced vet nursing, and you have to take tha route now...... seeing as there were so many fails in the old style diploma they looked into it and upgraded if you like.

You now have a choice of subjests that you study in the second year and can take medical and surgical, that is why there is no definite dip avn (surg....) med) anymore

oh and btw the on,ly place doing it is myerscough
