The evidence should still be valid, can't remember how long for though. I did 60% of my portfolio before i left the degree. Got the completed units certified by RCVS otherwise they'd have no longer been valid. If you contact your students the college they'll be able to tell you how long the work is valid for.

I would think that any evidence collected should still be valid if its signed off properly, etc etc... But im unsure on that... cos i only started my portfolio properly in sept myself. Maybe contact your VNAC, im with sparsholt college. Or contact the RCVS nurse dept for more details if needed.

Thanks for that Jenny. I think my student may have to re-enrol. Do you know if the evidence we have collected is still valid once she has re-enrolled?

Will have to contact her college if and when we get to that stage.

I have re-enrolled twice, due to moving around a lot, and then having a baba which meant I spent 3 years out of practice! Both re-enrollments have been after I obtained L2, and I was made to undergo a few months in practice, along with a statement from principal, in order to re-enrol at L3 after 3 years off.

At the time, I was told that enrollment lasts 5 years - may well have changed though!

Here it is, i found it... This is what they said to me when i asked about starting my NVQ and how long my enrollment was valid for. I enrolled as a SVN on 19th dec 2006.

Dear Miss Cook

Please note that your enrolment is valid for a period of 3 years for Level 2 (and then a further 3 years for Level 3). Please could you advise as to whether you are still employed at a training practice? Our records currently show that you are linked to Beech House Veterinary Centre. If you are still at this TP then you may continue to collect evidence for your level 2 portfolio. In the event that you have left, you will need to complete a “Notification of Change” form, found on p 57 of the Candidate Handbook, and forward this to the RCVS.

Hi, I have contacted the rcvs, they said it was 6 years,they did not specify 3 years for level 2 and the other 3 years for level 3. we re e-mail them to confirm.

I'm the same as Jenny, started degree then left so training put on hold. Had to re-enrol because it would have run out before i qualify.

You have 3 years to complete your L2 and 2/3 yrs for L3.

I enrolled as an SVN in december 2006, and was due to start college but quit (long story) I have started college and NVQ this sept and my enrollment technically runs out in dec this year. Ive been told i may just have to pay around £90 to re-enroll and continue my L2.

Contact the RCVS to be sure though.

but I don't know what they make you do if you go over that. Do they say you can never become a QVN? Do they extend it? Do you re-apply ????
I guess it also depends how near to qualifying they are.
Give them a ring, because I expect they could review each case on its own merit.
