This may seem like a silly question would any of you be able to talk to me regarding the portfolio. My assessor is great but recently had very deep personal problems and I have worked hard with her to get her back on the right track

Re: NVQ 2 Portfolio

Hey,

My suggestion would be to start with a simple, easy to write case eg booking an appointment. If you start off easy you can get the hang of writing case logs before you get to the more in-depth ones. And you can get the boring ones out of the way first!

Have fun!

I'm now beginning to understand what it involves and what I need to do.

Many thanks again

Know your occupational standards inside out! This is so important when you first start off, otherwise your portfolio will look incredibly daunting!! I badgered this into my students and once they had read over it they could see for themselves what cases would be suitable. Obviously your assessor will help with finding cases but the SVN should be able to do this too.

Make up a chart of all your scope that you need to cover and put it up somewhere obvious at work. Ensure all staff know about it so if they see you need to care for a hospitalised exotic for instance they can grab you.

Remember your cases show progression for both your theoretical knowledge of nursing, but also portfolio progression. Don't be afraid to write up a case how you think it should be done as chances are this will be correct. If it isn't your assessor will go through changes with you so this can be improved for your next one.

Hope this helps and try not to worry.

Re: NVQ 2 Portfolio

Hi Tracy,
