That is very true Sally. When i first got him at a year old i took him to classes run by a behaviourist to get some basic training sorted with him (sit, down, leave, recall, that sort of thing). It was then that i discovered he's a very stubborn little staffy! After the 8 week course there was a test, first time we failed by a couple of points. So did the course again. One of the things in the test was for him to leave a raw chicken wing that was being dragged along the ground and come back to me. Yeah right i thought, he'll NEVER do that. And what did he do...left it and came straight back to me!!! My face must have been a picture and everyone in the room cheered!

HWTM doesn't take as much training as you'd think really. But it depends how quickly you want to advance with it. I go to class most weeks, it's an hour class that often runs over by 30min! I do very little at home. He's much better doing it at class than he is at home, he'll often just lay down at home!! I'm not bothered about getting that far with it, i just go because Jack enjoys it and it has really improved his behaviour, i can let him off around people and other dogs more and be more confident that he won't run off or be silly. We've learnt quite a lot considering i do very little at home.

Haha Caro! I totally agree with you, Jack is fantastic with the trainer, it's me that needs training!

I'm going to have to drink a whole bottle of rescue remedy before we go next week...

Well done Vicky, If it is any help it is always the humans fault. I only did dressage once back home on my horse. I hated it to posh for me. The juges comments were

Horse shows potential for dressage, rider doesn't

Hahahaha well the trainer is videoing so will see if i can have a copy! But it may all go horribly wrong, in which case it's staying in a drawer!
