the cpd was a waste of time and as i had to leave early to drive from yorkshire to london to do night shift i did not get the full points so have to do more extra stuff to get the 30 points needed.

i would say dont do it till you are told as a vn or rvn that you have to.

Re: SQP training

I started it but changed practice so never finished it.
I have yet to see any practices who are using it. I would not have bothered if l had known what a waste of money it is. There is quite a few threads on here about sqp. I met spud at the cpd the other week. quite frankly a total waste of our time. There was a lot of C - sqp pet shop people at the meeting (99.9%) at a guess and small animal was pitched to the lowest knowledge. Yes the speakers were good but not for us. spud and l had to keep kicking and nudging each other to stop from nodding off (no exaggeration)

The equine not sure what knowledge that was aimed at it was errmm... worms (study done on different wormers for some worm) very scientific about papers and % and et als and a talk on errr feeds? think it was 2 talks in the morning, as you can see it was enthralling. I think we had 3 or maybe 4 talks in the afternoon, again not sure.

We had to do the equine (morning) and small animal(afternoon). We had to sign in and out if we did not then we did not get the points so would have wasted the wages and time. No one warns you of that so if you ever do go until the end to any be aware.

It was ridiculous that they made us sit through equine and we(well l) have no contact with equines.

Those who sqp it in the vn world seem to be dropping out l am only keeping it becuase if l have to get it back it will cost me 200£ (maybe more by then).

The only good thing was the food at the hotel. But there is very very few cpd around the country certainly for c (small animal) you HAVE to do one cpd day in your group/calender year. And can top that with up to 5 points self study or 5 points online cpd. Eack letter has a set amount of points /year. equine and c is 30.

If the drugs company want to have their talks inc. it has to go to a special panel and get approval... FFS!!!! hence no drugs company can be bothered., certainly at the moment. Not for small in house cpd. Even then l am guessing you would have to do the full day so you wouldnt really get any benefit.

I think the next nearest c and equine to the nw is in wales around june next year.
