I am in the process of developing a twitter site/page for our new animated Feliway cat. We though it will be a fun way to educate cat owners about feline stress.

you get to write a message with about 140 characters (very short) hence tweet as birds do short tweets anyhow just another medium like facebook, forums, beebo etc except it is so short. It used to be a pretty clanish place then celebrities got wind of it and now it is the up and coming place on the block. Meant to be useful if you ahve mobile phones and sending mesages,.

Got a lot of coverage during the iranian protests as was useful for the protesters to get messages to the outside world but l am sure facebook/bebo etc would have worked just as well.

I am told some people carry it to the extreme and tweet.. been to the toilet. going shopping earth shattering news in their otherwise banal and pityfuly dead lives.

Well, we're starting from the same starting point then!

What I know of it so far:

Twitter is essentially just a system that allows you to share what you are doing / what is happening to you, with other people, as it happens. The same as a blog in many ways, except your post is limited to 140 characters.

I've always been a little sceptical, because most of my life really is not interesting enough for people to want to subscribe to an ongoing commentary about it!

I mean, how many times a day does something happen that is so interesting we need to share it with others. I don't think it's very often.

Anyway, we'll see. I'm going to tweet veterinary news headlines, interspersed with anything which I think is sort of interesting enough for others to enjoy.

Must say, I've always been a bit dubious about the idea, but was persuaded to give it a try yesterday by a vet. Thought I'd use it to post our VetSurgeon / VetNurse news headlines, as just another way that you can receive them,

...plus anything else I see of interest, but given that I spend my entire life at my desk, that isn't much.

I joined, but prefer facebook. My bro is a freelance photographer, so he uses it for networking which I think works really well. Don't think it's as good for social networking.

Can not be bothered to twitter l know people that do but do not see the point. There is so much electronic going on it seems people are loosing the ability to humanly interact.
