Hi all,

There will never be a Feliway Collar.

Feliway works in a different way to DAP. Facial pheromones are produced by the cat all the time. Stressed cats just don’t deposit the pheromone. These deposits of pheromones are believed to be used by the cat to mark out it’s environment and reassure that cat it is safe.

Now one really know what happens if you release Feliway from a collar, but I understand that:

1) It is unlikely that there will be any effect as cats are producing this pheromone from their facial glands all the time.

2) If it does have an effect on the cat this is utterly unsafe for a cat to feel safe all the time i.e. you don’t want a cat to be chilled out in the middle of traffic.

I am more worried about these new collars being scented. Strong smells is a common cause of feline stress. What will happen when you try and get a smelly collar around a very stressed cat?

I realise I am very bias but I am very worried about these collars. I would love to hear more if anyone has any heard anything else about them.

never heard of them but are they similar to DAP collars in dogs? Now theres an idea for feliway! I would buy one! My luka worries the hell out of me!!
