Pet plan don't do the paper bags anymore, I was quite miffed when I rang recently to ask for some.

Vet Direct do some groovy white ones with black pawprints dotted over them, quite expensive tho.

We re-use carrier bags at my practice. Ever since I moved there 18months ago, have been turing it green! all of the junk mail/magazines the vets get go in the black box recycling, as do food cans & plastics, waste documents get shredded & go to one of our nurses who has lots of ferrets! and cardboard gets collected up & taken to the tip

It all used to get chucked out with normal waste before I started...!

Due to the current economic climate I would be encouraging the re-use/reduce/recycle among clients.

Carrier bags, just discarded in a bin is a very 'non-green' thing to do now as it takes a large number of years for it to decompose.

There are also companies who will produce paper bags with your practice logo on or whatever details you want, cant remember the name now. Petplan also supply paper bags, not very large mind, enough to hold a supply of meds.

I have a stash of Dogs Trust bags at home here, if anyone wants some I am happy to oblidge.

We use to have our own with the practice logo on...which I loved... but they got stopped because of the cost....and we have just finished the last of our Milbemax ones, which lasted ages but they are out of stock (maybe not going to do them anymore?) at the moment so the only company we've been able to get some from.... they haven't arrived yet, due this week is the Frontline people.

We've recently changed over to Euricans/Purevax vaccines, and we have a certain amt of money from them for literature that we order on-line.... They have also given me an estimate for printing some carrier bags with our logo on both sides and it was £310 for 1000.... don't know how this compares to other prices

We use used carrier bags, generally tend to get them from home and ask the clients to bring them in along with paper for the kennels.

Helps to re-use the things we would normally throw away and the clients seem enthusiastic about helping the practice to go green.

We've also been recycling paper for the last year too.

The only company that we can get carrier bags from now is James Wellbeloved, but I suppose it depends if you stock their food?! Vet Direct sell them too!

If there's a cash & carry near you, they should stock bags, either brown paper or plastic. If you were looking to get some made up with logos then there are lots of companies in the yellow pages or internet. Be prepared to pay for the initial set up and you may only be able to take them in huge quantities like 10,000
