Or can everyone do the ordering? Also who decides what can be kept on the shelf and do people have quite

Re: Stock control

Our stock control is computerised and when we receive an order, it gets scanned in to tie in with computer.

We also have a diary in our store room and when we take anything out of the store, we have to write it in the diary.

Re: Stock control

We have one main person (myself) and 1 other standby person (for when I'm off) for sorting stock control.
As I have been doing it for years I pretty much know what we sell lots and what we use once in a blue moon so I wrote some stock levels and got the boss to ok them.
I sort out all stock control, checking dates, checking credits, returns etc. All special orders are done by the boss man but he generally runs them by me/ checks what our usage is.
If the vets want new products they discuss with the boss and he decides if its a one off order or if its to be kept in stock.
As we have 6 vets, all with different drug preferences, an opthalmologist and a cardiologist, we have a lot of repitition within drug catagories.

We are hoping to get our ordering linked up to the sales so most drugs/ food/ injectables will be ordered automatically.

Re: Stock control

At our place, I as the HVN am responsible for the bulk of the daily ordering. If people ring to order drugs or food, then the person taking the order deals with it. It usually works well unless people are too lazy to walk through to the kennels are see what food we have in stock.

Rep orders come via the principal partner and myself. It's then up to me to process them.

We also have a general stock list. As we're not computerised (yes, really lol) it's a matter of going round and shaking pots. If I'm away then the list gets wheeled out and one of the other nurses is placed in charge of it.

One of the other nurses has her section to order, she manages the food kept in stock and things like buster collars.

Re: Stock control

When I was in practice I was in overall charge of stock control. I made lists of all the drugs and had a maximum number of stock ie 1 x 5000 pred 1mg or 2 x surolan

this was adhered to when I was away or too busy to do any ordering.

Any new items were discussed between the vets and myself then ordered as nec ie special order for a client or if they were to be a new stock item I put them on the list.

Rep orders were again discusssed between vets and myself, we had very little storage space so had to be practical on the ordering side of things for bulk offers
