Currently use RX and I hate it - you have to sya yes about a thousand times to save anything - before that Jupiter (nicknamed Stupiter).....is thre a truly good system out there?

we use vetsys from our supplier, dunlops. we dont have many problems but if we do we phone the supplier and they can sort it from thier end!

I sort of agree with you.

Its very annoying when a client says they have regiestered on line or wants to send me details via email. I have only got my own e mail account and do not have access to the practice one. Usually I have to open up my lap top and ring them back later.

But having recently had a problem with my e mail being hi-jacked at home dispite running AVG software, Im a little worried as is my boss.

I understand that people are concerned about security, but this is the way that much business software is going. Kashflow is a great example - an award-winning accounts package which is entirely web-hosted. With applications like online banking now being used by millions of people, I think we have to accept that online security is now better than what went before.

On viruses, the web-hosted software tends to run on a server owned by a large computing company like Google or Rackspace. They have the scale and expertise to make it far less likely that a virus or hacking attempt will affect their systems than do individual users.

Hey guys we've used Teleos Systems sine 2004 , back it up every night on a little external hard drive and it seems to do the trick.

It's dead easy to use and you get support through the internet and via the phone if you have any problems. They will change certain aspects of the program to suit your practice if needs be.

My boss would disagree with you Nick,

He insists that our practice computer and our internet lap tops do not connect. Therefore avoiding any risk of corruption/hacking or virus's.

Have used Jupiter - very good and very user friendly and easy to use.

Currently using Ventana - have found it to be a very complicated system to get to grips with- dont know if other people have found this?PM gave me a training sesh on it which helped loads oh and a full day on reception to lol!

Would recommend Jupiter over Ventana tho.

We don't. Simple as. I have been campaigning for at least 5 years to go computerised but so far he's still going strong on excuses and issue avoidance!

Tell a lie, we have one computer but it's restricted to booster reminders, ordering and drug labels. It prints using an old dot matrix. According to NVS we are the only practice in the country to use this system so once it breaks, it's gone. Oh I wish for that every day with every fibre of my being!

We've had Jupiter for about 2 weeks now and it's going quite well. I think it's a really easy system to use. We are quite a large hospital with 4 branches aswell as a farm practice and large equine practice and we've all gone onto it. I think Jupiter are using us as guinea pigs for their new system or something like that.

hi we use Robovet - by vet solutions and its quite straightforward and i have found it good to use. connects to our other 2 branches . I have also found their back up service for enquiries / problems to be very good also

We use Teleos, we used to have Vetcare, which was really easy to use, but it was way out of date an kept crashing/freezing. No problems with teleos - love it!

We've had Ventana for just under a year, it's okay but the main problem is some runtime error and you could be half way through pricing up something and it will totally shut down and everything will be lost!

Have used (in order of preference) 1. RX Works 2. Teleos 3. Jupiter Would stay clear of Jupiter but the other 2 are very good

We have been with Jupiter for a year or so now. It has been fab until recently, problems with connecting to the net. But then it could be our phone line. Jupiter blame BT, BT blame Jupiter! So we're not really sure what's going on!

We have Teleos. 2 linked practices. Everything has its quirks but it is a very user-friendly system - all new staff have been using it confidently within a few days. I am very happy with it.

We are using Jupiter, had it about 18 mths and despite having a few teething problems it is working really well for us now. We went for it mainly because we can link up the main surgery and the branch practice records.
