I've got one last point to do in my 2nd year portfolio and I cant seem to think of how I'll get it. Its correctly identifying faults in diagnostic imaging equipment and materials and take the appropriate action. Any suggestions or ideas of what

Re: Portfolio- HELP!!

Fault with processing could be something as easy as exhausted chemicals, easy to fix too

Re: Portfolio- HELP!!

Thinking back I did a transferable skill statement for my student as she had identified a fault with the anaesthetic machines. Your assessor just needs to write a short statement detailing why it is transferable, i.e. the same procedure would be followed regardless of what area of the practice the fault occurred. You also need to include a reference to the evidence it is being transferred from, i.e. ref. no and page no. I just then asked the student oral questions on what types of fault might occur and any h+s implications.

but then i did have 3 students on level 3 at the same time so faults were hard to come by. worth asking ur iv if u can do it this way.

Or has somebody left the lid of the box of film? I have had the catches on the casettes not closing properly sometimes. Do the rollers in your processor get stuck or the fluids dont heat up to the right temp?

This is normally tested by covering a cassette with a layer of paper clips, then take an exposure and all the paper clips should be the same size, if not then there is poor film/screen contact

Re: Portfolio- HELP!!

can you not cover this on an assessor question?? i think for things like this that we couldn't cover with a question, we did a 'mock up' type observation (can't remember what it was officially known as)! your IV should be able to advise you. some things are just impossible to get and there is a way around them. i think i just wrote something saying what i would have looked for and appropriate action.

i suppose that is no help at all really and is just a lot of rambling, but what i meant to say is get in touch with your IV and they should have a soloution!
