This time it is a grass snake caught by a cat. Generally it is very well, bright, active, good size etc but has a wound just at the top of its 'tail'. My plan is to keep it for a few days in

Re: Need yet more wildlife help...

No no, I would never do it!
Teehee if i came home with a snake to nurse my mum would have a hairy fit! That was the condition of me being a nurse, no snakes!!!

Haha! Luckily my fiance is used to this by now, doesn't like it but puts up with it!

Snake is doing really well today - been advised to buy little goldfish to try and get it to eat! Not sure I can bring myself to do that!

Re: Need yet more wildlife help...

Teehee if i came home with a snake to nurse my mum would have a hairy fit! That was the condition of me being a nurse, no snakes!!!

Re: Need yet more wildlife help...

Go for it girl!!

Re: Need yet more wildlife help...

Haha!
It doesn't look too terrible a wound, cleaning should be fine! I will keep an eye on infection but with a good cleaning I am hopeful it will be fine.

I will give the Hartmanns a go - thank you!

Hoping that some of my Gecko's mealworms might tempt him to eat a little bit, I can try!

Re: Need yet more wildlife help...

for the wound just clean and use intrasite. you can give a shot of Ab's but you need to insert the needle between the scales.

Feeding wise - they are sods and will not feed!! But thats not a major issue, only if they are in long-term in which case the fun case of tube feeding happens, not very easy with snakes. Otherwise they are fine to go a few days without.

Fluids wise just sit him in a kidney dish of Haartmans or what ever, for 10-15 mins, he will absorb through the skin.
