Just a few questions about TP's

If a practice says it's a TP, and advertises for a student or trainee nurse,. but isn't on the list of TP's published by the RCVS - is it able to take and train student nurses?

If a TP decides it no longer trains students does/should it remain on the TP list ?

If a practice isn't a TP but offers training, can any practice do this as long as they don't state the training is towards NVQ2/3 ?
(I assume any in house learning is deemed as training and so any practice can do this without needing any official trainers/assessors nor need make any promises to an employee what the training would actually involve) .

[/quote]

Our TP status has just run out. For various reasons (which I'm not
going to go into) we are not going to renew it, however we will look
like a TP in certain publications until they are updated next year. We
have informed the correct people that we are not longer a TP and have
officially been removed from the 'TP register'

I think so long as the practice in question is honest about the training description then its ok. If your not sure about what is being advertised then phone and ask.

I posted a job advert for our place a few months ago and was completley honest about what we where offering... needless to say not many people applied

Practices shouldn't say they are TP's if they aren't on the list, but it could mean that they are undergoing approval/making changes to the practice to qualify.

2. Probably not, it's costing them money for something they are not gaining anything from! Again though, they could be having a break from training if no assessors, or they have their quota of SVNs.

3. Yes any practice can offer in house training. This can be for general nursing and training towards their practice standards which any practice would do when employing non-qualified staff. No assessor is needed, and the training can be anything from just learning as you go, to actual one to one teaching.

Re: when is a TP not a TP?

When its a Wigwam????
