Our free food was stopped a while ago. I didn't use it for Jack though, so no loss for me! Have always had him on JW.

for those of you who cannot/wont get your pet food in practice, you should try some of the online pet food companies, you can get good deals sometimes

We've just changed over from Hills to Royal Canin (Hills was getting very expensive, we hadn't had a rep for the last year, and generally not very satisfied with it) ,(It's never been mentioned by our RC rep that we could get free staff food... perhaps we aren't a big enough practice?) and I've just changed my dog over to RC neuter and it seems to suit her really well.... I like the fibre content 16-17% compared to Chappie +/-7%, which is excellant as she has anal gland problems, she's also lost abit of post spay weight, with no effort on my behalf and she has been happy with it... previously when I've tried, she's always scavaenged/scrounged alot more, and she even has abit of a shine to her coat.... she's not a shiney coat kind of dog!

So I've had some positive results with it.... now just beginning to try out the cats on their cat food............

Well, as a practice we are getting rid of all Hills products as they are overpriced and the labelling has become ridiculous! They promised vets an exclusive deal years back in which we would be the only people selling it. Well, that went by the by. But then EU ruling which has now taken over our country has prob got something to do with it.

If I can't afford to buy it how can I expect the gen public to buy it.

Switched to James Wellbeloved - great quality and cheaper

All my dogs are on Wag, Scamp has a dodgy stomach and its the only thing he seems ok with, £10 a bag x

I feed my dogs on Beta or Pal dried food - they also like cans and wont eat dry on its own so I normally buy tesco own brand cans and they love them. I can get a big can of tesco own for 69p and that is split between four dogs twice daily so I am using 2 cans a day.

Rosie, my special princess as I am sure a lot of you are aware of her, she eats winalot, butchers or pal cans with the beta as well.

A 5kg bag of hills lasts my 3 cats a month along with canned food. They used to get the tesco own brand but I can get felix roasted for a reasonable price online and they love it.

If you want to pm me toad, I will give you the website where I get my food online.

Tabitha, my rabbit eats excel supa rabbit, but due to recent revelations about their food, I am changing hers to a different one.

Hi guys, thanks for the advice. Still not sure what I'm going to do.

The practice I'm at now is RCW, but the free food doesn't make it as far as me. They've always been on Science Plan and we don't get that much of an amazing staff discount either so its a bit pricey.

Maybe I should change my own diet to cheaper stuff and they can keep their premium stuff!

Ours is Royal Canin practice but I'm an Arden Grange breeder, so get it delivered to the house.

My male dog, Hercules, won't eat RC, he went without food for 3 days as a protest.

What food company is your practice with. E.g. Royal Canin provide staff with free food. The amount is dependant on your practice sales. I have worked in practices that have sold Arden Grange and Hills and know they also do somethings similar.

My 3 dogs and 9 cats are all fed on Arden Grange, snake on defrosted rats, chinchilla on a small amount of charlie chinchilla, loads of timothy hay and veggies and tortoises get fresh food only

i think the purina proplan is very similar to the science plan and i feed mine this. works out cheaper too!!

I am sure IAMS used to test on animals or something like that

Niamh gets purina and tesco gravy pouches as thats all she will eat!

Luka get urinary diet food

And Poppy get whiskas kitten food and sainsburys kitttn biscuits!

But overall 3 very happy cats!

I feed mine iams, a vet once told me they were a horrible company (cant remember why) so I tried to change but gave her the runs so back on iams!!

If I were to get another one Im quite keen to try JWB

Got your Purina rep on board they are very good at giving staff free food and also Alstoe are doing their alternative to Burgess which looks exactly the same but cheaper, we've moved our rabbits & pigs onto it with no problems

I feed both my cats purina house cat their fussy buggers and wont eat hills anymore, get it at cost price, have got a lovely free bag on my way to me at the moment from our rep.

Have u spoken to ur hills rep they will usually give a free bag to u if u chat to them (or at least they seem to at our practice)
