Agree completely. At least the RCVS has powers in the UK tho.

Have been asked a fair few times to do 'unethical' procedures, including:

-'devoice' a cockerel that was annoying the neighbours. (Impossible anyway!)

-try to cosmetically enhance pricked ears that refused to ***!

-implant false testicles after castration (don't know whether this is illegal - but something I disagree with. How does this benefit the dog?????)

-declaw cats

and probably others....

There was a story on the net a few months ago about someone who was selling "Goth kittens" online in the uk. they were only young, black and had all their ears pierced, so stupid. Link below..

Have to say Gill l didn't look to close at the staff just did a link. Having said that nothing would surprise me to much. Still think that any vet where ever in the world who helped with the tattoo for designer should be struck off.

I think the staffie has been photoshopped Caro - the rings are all falling the same way!

Incidentally, tattooing is probably also illegal under the The Mutilations (Permitted Procedures) (England) Regulations 2007 as tattooing is only permitted as a means of identification and not for cosmetic reasons.

So unlikely to start seeing it in the UK!!

one they had on that group was of a dog that had had a tattoo while it had been castrated.

there are pigs that get tattooes in China.

there was also a staffie whos last owner had tattooed a nazi symbol on his chest. he was also abused. he now has a loving owner, his fur has grown over his chest, but it is still visable.

tattooing fish is so wierd

its all so so sick....

Never heard of this but here is a picture quite frankly the vet should be struck off and everyone connected with it prosecuted for cruelty.

More here More sick things Apparently the chinese are big on tattooing fish. Quite frankly l did not look for more it was to sickening and depressing. I would hope that anyone who did this in uk would get prosecuted AND booted out of the rcvs.

One thing l did find is that some "tattoos" are actually stamps or rub on sticky things that wear off pictures from what l understand this is one of them.
