If you make a mistake such as breaking sterility, or bandaging the wrong leg then yes, inform the examiners. In the VN Standard it was implying that the student can't verbally say what they would do for each task, without actually doing it as has been the case.

don't you only have to pass 5/8 tasks though? So if you didn't do the shaded areas on 3 of the tasks you could still pass? Or am I misunderstanding it?

In the VN Standard last month, it stated that although talking through the task was acceptable, the task still had to be done correctly and even if you pointed out what had gone wrong, you would be marked on what you actually did.

It does go by the shaded areas, these are generally key points that assume the SVN can carry out the task safely to the patient, themselves and others. If you pointed out errors to the examiners that you bandaged the wrong leg you may get some leniency with the marking. It's the shaded points that are important though.

took mine this morning, think i did ok, was shaking so much couldnt get lid off needle,just glad its over and hope i dont have to do all agin, found it so nerve racking, fingers crossed to all who did it this weekend x

I am worried now because on the anaesthesia i worked out the gas flow rate wrong as I chose the wrong circuit factor i think, I bandaged the wrong leg on the bandaging task, I didnt cover the sharp end when packing scissors for autoclaving and Im not sure I did the calculation for drip rate correctly!!my head was mush xx

well i doubt that out of everybody that no-one would acheive the grey bits.

are you worried about yours? im sure you did better than you think, just have confidence and rather that thinking of the stuff you forgot think of the stuff you did do

but what if no 1 achieves the grey bits?does that mean every1 fails or does it go on what other bits are achieved??
