I find Frontline pretty pants! Jack had had it applied by Dogs Trust before i got him...i was constantly taking ticks off him! Since i've had him have alternated between practice and advocate, only found a couple of ticks! I used to use Frontline on my neighbours cats (they never did them so fleas++++++ in our house, and one cat had FAD i think, cos when i treated him his skin was a hell of a lot better!), only found it lasted 3 weeks or so.

Is it because it isn't being used as directed? I've personally found that since it's now sold online, pharmacies etc the advice given isn't as thorough as within a vet practice and the product isn't used correctly. ie no household advice given etc? Just a thought?

I don't like bob martin have seen more than enough to last a life time but do want to point out that there is a warning on the packet about it being toxic to cats. The problem is people just want to do things on the cheap and so they don't see/ignore the warning. Perhaps make the warning the same size as the packet but even then some burke will still use it. People do need to take some responsibility for their actions. I have had people use comments like "Well l used the dog one and only half" as though that will make it less toxic.

Things like grapes and chocolate and coco shells and antifreeze have no warning and so those to me should be in the front line at least get a warning onto them. I wonder how many pets die of chocolate tox or renal from grapes we do not see as they die before being brought in or owners do not realise to tell us.

Don't forget that premethrim (sp) is in advantix so you have to be very careful around cats if you use that on your pooch. I don't think it is to wide spread in use yet but do wonder how many folks have seen reactions to that or will do.

I had to stop using F/L on my cats due to immunity... now use occassional Stronghold. Have also definately noticed it hapening with some clients pets ... it's a shame because I liked Frontline... always trusted it... chemical wise, if that makes sense

I found Frontline not working a while ago (multicat and dog household) so now they all get Advocate.

Vet I work has been saying this and she thinks it is because frontline has been around for quite a while now and so fleas are building up immunity to it.

On a bit of a side topic I've had a lot of people coming in talking about the 'immunity' of fleas to frontline, is anyone else noticing that frontline is becoming less effective?

Do we know why this may be? We use advocate as a general rule in our practice but still have frontline in stock in case people want that instead also because this can be sold non-POM.

Seen/spoken to 3 clients this week with fleas+++ who have all applied Bob Martins flea tx in previous 2-3 days and still have masses of fleas..... regular clients but went to the pet shop 1st....one dog had had a flea shampoo bath, BM applied and was wearing a flea collar.... saw this one... jumping fleas! They weren't told to worm him or that needed to be kept away from cats for 72hrs after application.

Do people fo to the pet shop 1st because it's cheaper? I now always adv O's not to use BM or Johnsons flea tx on cats or dogs for many reasons......

The only thing we can advise is to use a household spray... indorex/rip and then wait 3 wks to apply stronghold etc.

One client had used a spray on her dog and thought that because it didn't work she should spray the house with it, which is what it recommends, but if it doesn't kill fleas on your dog, will it kill fleas in the house???

It's good to scare people. But is Bob Martin as dangerous as they claim?

Personally wouldn't touch the stuff for my kitties! Don't think it works really! Good old Frontline and milbemax ... can't go wrong!

It's not random at all! This is from the moderator of the facebook group, who is asking people who have had direct contact with animals with have had problems with Bob Martin's (is us the veterinary world) to write to a woman who probably setting up some kind of petition against Bob Martin. Hopefully this will enable the Government to legislate against this kind of crap product!

If you have had a patient with Bob Martin poisoning then please take the time to write!
