think when you find a good doc you stick with them, my bf was poorly and went back and forward with a swelling on his leg along with other symptoms. this went on months then he was diagnosed with cancer. still see the same doc.

iv had same probs with more minor problems so see that good doc too!

There is a problem with to many professionals they think they are god. Thankfully times are slowly changing but it will be a long time yet. Of the 2 cretins at our practice we refuse to use one except if the slightly better cretin is away. As l told the slightly better creting.. your partner is an incompetent idiot and l don't trust him.

And as for the kill comment the problem is to many dr mess about before getting people to specialists that can do a better job. Hell it was not life threatening but my original cretin the one l don't now use) told me my arm was just sore from leaning on it to much and l was being a baby (thats pretty much word for word)

A few months later l took my dad to his skin cancer consultant and said do you mind if l ask a favour (she was a South African lovely lady) she was fine so l asked her if she knew what was wrong with my arm telling her what cretin had said. She glanced at it, said ahh psoriasis and wrote me out a script and gave me some leaflets. She said that she was not surprised that nothing had been done for me.. her comment spoke volumes.

Same goes for 'doctors kill more than they cure.' If I am ill, I'll take my chance. Cos a choice between treating me - I may get better,I may still die - and not treating me - I will die, isn't much of a choice really is it? What would you do?

after kicking of at the docs i got my blood tests done at the local hospital so just need to wait for the results now

mlv - haven't really seen you on this site much before and to tell you the truth, I don't like the way you post things. I've only read a couple of threads which you've replied to and they're all very aggressive as the above quote shows.

People are allowed an opinion on this site and we're all allowed to think for ourselves, but your tone is condescending and personally, I don't like it!!

Please please please - get back to the docs - phone- and tell them you have more symptoms- please ask for blood work to be done sooner than later.

They've done it in the UK to! They're either doing or planning to do it in my area. I drink bottled water anyway, don't like the taste of tap water. I personally don't like the idea of drinking fluoride. They've probably tested it etc but it seems odd to me, i'll be avoiding drinking too much of it. They just need to educate people on looking after their teeth, not just put fluoride in the water. If they choose not to look after their teeth it's their own bloody faults! But hey, just my opinion!

yes this is why it clearly states on the packets to not swallow it

Also it can't be all that bad because they fluoridate the water in the US and some other countries!

I imagine in small doses it's harmless and is expelled from the body.

Well at least you get results. Cretin dr sorted my dad out a blood test after l requested as he has been so weak lately. Despite all the hospital stays over 2 years the only time he sees my dad has been when he has done the post hospital recovery home my dad has had 2 stays in. Any problems l ring and speak to the dr. and based on what l say medication is faxed to the pharmacy for them to deliver. If really bad with whatever he is shipped to hospital.

Anyhow after 1st test and no results given cretin requests district nurse takes another. 4 weeks on no word so l ring cretin up. Oh says receptionist his B test was fine but he is anaemic and needs to go back on his iron. I asked just how low and it was below double figues. And they had not notified my folks or myself. Luckily my Mum had him restarted on his iron already as l suggested when he had the tests.

I tried this once, phoned nurse to say couldnt come in and what bloods did they need i.e haematology, biochem etc and how much. So she told me what samples were needed then went on to say I would have to come to the surgery for labels, envelope for posting etc etc so what was the point I thought?

Ive been to my doctors today i nearly passed out at work been having strange hot flushes and feeling dizzy (i know it sounds like the menopause but im only 25 honest). He was very polite and helpful and said he needed to check my urine, thyroid function and glucose levels. Also did my blood pressure which was through the roof. Went out to book an appointment for my bloods and was told it will be at least 2weeks before they can even take the bloods!!!!!

So what the hell do i do now?

Sorry to hear you've had a pretty crap time with your health. Surely your doc should run full bloods inc thyroid? Im hypothyroid and although it took 3 samples to get diagnosed i just kept pushing for it as i was similar to you in having contstant colds that never ended before another one started and being so drained i struggled to get up and was forever cold along with other typical hypoT4 symptoms. Could you see another GP and explain straight away your treatment from previous GP and that you got no answers (you know what its like when a client says the first vet they saw was no good - you strive to be better than the rival vet / practice) Good luck

I always have trouble with my doctors, my head nurse always says go back and tell them what they need to do. i went to the drs because i was constantly tired, had bloods done and they came back fine and all they said was nothing needs to be done we dont need to see you again, i was like surely there is a reason for me being tired ALL the time!!!

Same with migraines i get fobbed off all the time. due to go tomorrow for a problem ive been having for a while, hope i get somewhere!

thats quite true, they dont explain the little details such as how to give metacam etc.

I think my bf is pants about asking, whereas I need to know the far end of a fart! I need to know if this happens then what or if it doesnt work what then.

I often find that you need to ask the doctor to exact about what's happening next. OK bloods fine, but still have swollen legs...what now?? I know from experience that we're not always the best at explaining to doctors what we want or need, its the same with vets...clients go in see vet & then come out & ask nurse what to do cos they didn't want to bother vet with their questions.

We just need to ask and I'm sure they'll tell us!!

i dont have much faith in most of the doctors at my surgery, except one. however he is very popular and getting to see him is hard, thankfully Im hardly ever at the doc but my bf is there fairly often.

recently he had been playing football and his leg became swollen, bruised and full of odema, he got appt same day, (not our doc) who said he may have a blood clot.........took bloods but no meds given no follow up appt, nothing. Bloods came back fine but now where to go?

I wasnt best pleased!

I think the statement about doctors killing more peple than they help cannot be true. Where is this factual based statement from?? You may find that the people that go to doctors are ill and therefore may die, but that doesn't mean the doctors have killed them.

I agree with you re the sweetener but its called aspartame and its not in all diet or sugar free foods - you are generalising and I hate it when people generalise!

As for taking herbal / homeopathic remedies - not everyone can take them so they should be taken with caution. Again you are generalising!!

I agree with the garlic & ginger - didn't know about the thyme but sounds pausible - agree with the water & the green veg - part of basic healthy diet though!

Also sort of agree with the toothpaste, although I try to buy one that doesn't have a chemical called SLS in it. SLS was origanlly used for removing grease from garage floors, so not quite sure what its doing in toothpaste!! Its also in deodorants. Finding SLS free cosmetics can be very diffiuclt.

make sure you are not eating junk food or processed food. Make sure you are not eating aspartane and msg. Aspartane is in ALL sugar free drinks and many diet foods.

Google it for the full info.

Get some echinaccea tincture from the health shop and take it! It is the best!

Also eat garlic (natural antibiotic) and ginger (natural anti inflammatory) and thyme (decongestant)

drink plenty of filtered water

eat dark greens (full of vit c etc)

stop using fluoridated toothpaste! the fluoride in it is from aluminium smelt waste and is TOXIC!

I'd rather see a vet!

In fact on a couple of occasions I've discussed medical probs with a vet (I have to say though it's cos I knew they had the same problem and wondered how they sorted it rather than a general query), and got much better help than from a doctor..

Well I certainly feel the Doctors Im with now seem to like doling out antidepressants or the pill! I havent been here long enough to build a rapport with them. They prob think Im a pain in the butt coz Im always asking what are all my options.
