how many (and which) colleges have people used that do block release study either instead of taking day

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

Telford in Edinburgh do block release and possibly Barony in Dumfries although I might be wrong about that one!

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

[quote user="Soo"]

Hi!

I have just finished block release at Myerscough n loved it! I think because you are there for 2 weeks at a time you get really close with the people on course as your around each other 24/7 and the teachers too, so it makes it easier to ask silly questions or ask for help or coming up with stupid ways to remember stuff or else just being able to talk through problems at work like me! :D

For me it was also like a mini holiday away from the stresses of work and home, which has gotta be a bonus too! I did do some revision in the evenings though! lol! it wasn't all relaxing and fun.....maybe.

Hope this helps xx

I totally agree. I have some fantastic friends my college and I don't think we'd have been as close had we done day release. I LOVED block release, wish I could go and do it all over again!!!

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

Hi!

I thought I'd hate it too but it meant I could get organised with studying. Yes, I spent the two weeks practically eating and sleeping Vet Nursing but I preferred it to worrying about what shift I was on, who was doing nights and on call. I recommend it.

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

I do block release at Thurso, I thought I would hate it, but I actually quite like it, it means I have no distractions so I can concentrate on what I have been taught that day x

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

I think i'd find block release too much to take in, doing it once a week gives me time to digest what i've learnt!

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

I did mine many many many moons ago by block release. It was good as some of the tutors run extra classes in the evening for students struggling in certain subjects.

You was able to concentrate without thinking what shift you was on the next day etc.

Would definately say block is better.

Re: how many colleges do block release NVQ format?

Myerscough do block and day release

I did block and found it really helpful to be away from the distractions of work/home etc. I also found it helpful to do the work in blocks rather than bits on a day release.

Just me personally but I loved block release and would recommend it to anyone
