&lt;p&gt;Bah. I think scottish water is expensive! I was on a water meter in Lincoln - and paid &amp;pound;28/month with 3 adults living in the house. Ayr wanted to charged me &amp;pound;44-50/month (yikes). Button yours sounds horrendous - I am sure that there must be a mistake.&lt;/p&gt;

Said its either the meter been read wrong, the wrong meter been read or a faulty meter.&lt;br /&gt;I tried to check meter myself but couldnt read it as the panel is full of condensation. It may be that this year it is a bit more then you have a break and it drops down. If you live in the south west it may just be that your bills are that expensive. &lt;p&gt;We pay a service charge to a housing association who own the lease and I think that some of that goes towards something to do with the sewerage. &lt;p&gt;Nomally water and sewerage are based on the rateable value of the property from, I think, 1998 bandings. If the property is new it comes under the latest banding which is likely to be higher as it is based on value of the property.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You could opt for metered watering if there&amp;#39;s only two of you and you don&amp;#39;t use it for garden watering,paddling pools, lots of baths etc.&lt;br /&gt;Then sewerage remains as rated and water is billed for usage.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I&amp;#39;d have thought it a bit steep, depending on where you live.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;we pay around &amp;pound;100 a month or a bit less for both water and sewerage unmetered in a large 3 bedroom house, with 1 bed annexe - so technically rated as two together, and a band F house.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Check what your neighbours bands and rates are too see if they tally up or not.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
