We take along bandage materials so they can bandage each other, gown gloves mask to dress the teacher up in then have a go themselves, our talk normally consists of what we do many of the children have animals registered at or practice so have seen us in work, ask questions u'l always get 1 that wants to talk lots, take xrays of fractures, skulls, any exotic. we do tend only to do infant schools

Re: talks for kids

As a VN and a Guide leader i've done a couple with various age groups. How old are they?

With younger ones i've talked about what things they think animals might need to live happy lives, what they like to eat etc, have taken pictures of variuos animals talked about who has what, any one been to vets before, how to behave around animals.

Take things like a stethoscope, interesting x-rays, bandages, fleas, ticks and anything else that they can handle.

Older ones you can go into greater depth neutering, toothbrushing, being a VN etc. Have also taken pictures of the practice for them to look at. Older ones also tend to have a lot of questions - my Guides are always coming up with questions.

Also if you have a well behaved pet take that along.

Re: talks for kids

http://www.vetnurse.co.uk/forums/t/4331.aspx
