bit concerned that your vet put her on pred without knowing the problem tho. i would have had bloods, including fpli (for pancreatitis), tli, folate and cobalamin, plus at least rads and prefereably an ultrasound (if someone was confident interpreting results) first off, see if anything showed, then potentially ex lap with biopsies of everything.(that is only what I personally would have done if she was mine)

Pred is not the cure all that some vets think it is. (sorry this is just cos I have been where I am for so long and it gets frustrating with all the preds being handed out like sweets!)

I have to agree and sometimes the preds can prolong and sometimes mask the original problem making it more difficult to diagnose. In some cases it comes back three fold!

Allergy testing is expensive and shes not insured, i might get a bag of HA or RCW in to try her on and see what she thinks to it my other cat will thankfully eat anything he loved the z/d when he was trialed last yr. in herelf shes bright still playing and bouncing everywhere, i want to get her a puzzle feeder but nvs only stock the dog kong ones any ideas where i can get one from?

How about allergy testing?

[/quote]

we ended up doing this with our moggie turned out she was allergic to loads of foods. she's now on immuno therapy injections and is doing brilliantly. be sure you have it done at a dermatology client and don't just do the York testing. Patch testing is the way to go. You may also want to try one of those feed balls that will encourage small meals regularly instead of one meal in a go. Royal Canin also do a lovely palatable hypoallergenic diet. I personally wouldn't recommend the Hills Z/D it's like gelly and not very nice.

fur balls? - one of mine does this periodically until he manages to shift a fur ball and then he stops (can go on for a week or so) has been checked a few times but nobody has ever found anything more serious than fur balls. is quite impressive the amount of fur this cat swallows

I agree... one of mine vomits for at least 5 days before he brings up a fur ball, sometimes longer. It has taken me a few years to realise this and he brings up the biggest ones I've ever seen!
